Growing up in Switzerland I always closely associated myself with the mountains, especially with the Bernese Oberland region. I still absolutely love to visit the Swiss Alps on my rare trips back home, they are stunning even compared to the truly gorgeous New Zealand alps, just in a different way.
The New Zealand landscape is more diverse and the mountains are pure and untouched, but the beauty of the Swiss Alps is more complex: the mountains are higher, nature has to brace for deadly winters and snow every year, and the valleys are much more populated and full of cultural heritage.
